The drive from Savannah, GA to Jacksonville, FL is very flat and wet. Plan for a full day if you stop and explore each National Park site like we did.
There are many forts along the coast in the South. Fort Pulaski is just outside of Savannah, heading towards Tybee Island.
We saw miles of the little fencing at the bottom of this sign. At about 18 inches high it works just fine to keep turtles off the road.
This was the 2nd National Park site we visited this day. Fort Frederica was built to protect the southern boundary of the British colony from the Spaniards.
We also stopped by the Cumberland Island National Seashore in Camden County, GA. Cute little beach town with some very pretty shores.
