We walked around Sheridan, WY’s cute little downtown in the morning. Stopped at the Cowboy Cafe for breakfast.
After a two-hour drive through rolling fields and beautiful yellow grasses, we arrived at Yellowtail Dam in the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area. It is similar to Hoover Dam in that it is hydroelectric. It was in a pretty area and, unlike the Hoover Dam, the reservoir behind it was full. Best part – we got another stamp in our Passport Book!!!
About an hour from the dam is Little Bighorn National Battlefield. If you go, watch the movie in the visitor center! It explains what happened and why. Here are the pictures of Custer’s Last Stand.
And from the Indian Monument near Custer’s Last Stand hill.
After spending time walking around the battlefield memorial and cemetery…
…we headed on to Billings, MT for the night.
So interesting, y’all! Thank you for sharing. Were you anywhere near Jackson Hole, WY? That’s were my step -son lives with his family.
No Becky. We didn’t pass by Jackson Hole on this trip.
What a coincidence that the four of us are here and there and everywhere! You’re in the NW and we are in the SW of the country!
Countryside is peaceful and attractive! Enjoy the rest of your journey.
