Cape Foulweather and Port Orford, Oregon

About halfway down the coast of Oregon is a really hard to find place called Cape Foulweather. The cape is notable as the first area in the northwest to be sighted and named by Captain James Cook.

So happy we finally found this place after driving around in circles

Driving south along Highway 101 we stopped for a night in Port Orford. This is a tiny town with a fun bed and breakfast called WildSpring Guest Habitat. This place is like spending a night at a spa. Each “room” is a tiny cabin and the property is full of beautiful old trees.

We came here last year and enjoyed it so much we stopped again. Here are some pictures we took last year. For those considering a stay here be aware that there is no tv, you park at the entrance to the property and walk to your cabin and the main cabin for breakfast, the town only has about 1,300 people so there is no nightlife, and the internet is spotty. However, the cabin is really cool, a sense of zen will overcome you and, the food is amazing in the morning.

One of the things we like most about Port Orford is the weather in July. It was about 62 f (about 16 c) though this year is was very windy.

We’re not sure when we’ll be back in this part of the world but we are really glad we came to visit.

Who does what here? Honestly, it’s really a good collaboration. We both decide where to go and plan the trip together. Once at our destination, Jeri takes most of the pictures and edits them for our website, though Joel has a much longer arm and is better at taking our selfies. Once the pictures are done then Jeri writes the posts and Joel edits them before they go live. Joel is also the IT guy when things go wrong (but what could possible go wrong when a computer is involved?)
