Grand Junction, Colorado

In the summer of 2013 we took a road trip through western Colorado. It was one of our best road trips we ever took while we were still working. Our first stop was in Grand Junction, Colorado. There was some great street art downtown. Joel is about 6’ tall so these are very large sculptures. Here is some of what we saw…

Heading south from Grand Junction we stopped at the summit of Grand Mesa to enjoy the view. It was so cold that I had a hard time not shivering and staying still for this picture. But since it was over 105F (40C) at home I was soaking it in.

We stopped by Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park to get another stamp in our National Park Passport book.

The canyon was much bigger than we expected. And, even though it was a dry summer, we were able to see the river flowing at the bottom.

Sunflowers were growing wild along most of the roads we traveled between Grand Junction and Teluride.

Who does what here? Honestly, it’s really a good collaboration. We both decide where to go and plan the trip together. Once at our destination, Jeri takes most of the pictures and edits them for our website, though Joel has a much longer arm and is better at taking our selfies. Once the pictures are done then Jeri writes the posts and Joel edits them before they go live. Joel is also the IT guy when things go wrong (but what could possible go wrong when a computer is involved?)
