A clear view as we began our ascent

Mount Rainier National Park

In Mount Rainier National Park we drove on the highest paved road in the state of Washington heading up to the Visitor Center. The Sunrise Visitor Center was at an elevation of about 6400 feet (1950 meters). From here you can see Mount Rainier on a clear day. Mount Rainier is a volcano listed as a Decade volcano…one of the 16 volcanoes with the greatest likelihood of causing great loss of life and property if eruptive activity resumes.

Unfortunately, on the day we went the clouds descended on us as we were driving to the top so our ability to get clear pictures was limited.

Once we got a stamp in our National Park Passport book (#natioalparkgeeks) we headed out for a quick selfie. Turns out we were too late😕

The views of other mountains on our descent were spectacular. These pictures don’t do it justice.

We spent hours driving around and through this park (yes, it’s that big). By the end of the day we were on the other side heading to our hotel. If you come here plan for extra time to drive around. The views are worth it.

Who does what here? Honestly, it’s really a good collaboration. We both decide where to go and plan the trip together. Once at our destination, Jeri takes most of the pictures and edits them for our website, though Joel has a much longer arm and is better at taking our selfies. Once the pictures are done then Jeri writes the posts and Joel edits them before they go live. Joel is also the IT guy when things go wrong (but what could possible go wrong when a computer is involved?)
