We Crashed a Parade!

In July 2012, Joel’s sister invited us up to visit their cabin in Duck Creek, UT. With so many family members visiting we all got into the 4th of July spirit.

Our plan for the weekend was to decorate a trailer our brother-in-law brought up, dress up in costumes, then drive onto the parade route and throw candy out to the crowd.

Our costumes, ketchup and mustard, seemed appropriate since most people use them at their holiday barbecues.

Joel is all set to go. He’s got a bag of candy and a whole lot of holiday spirit.

Many others were full of holiday spirit too.

Below, folks lined up along the parade route. Most “residents” actually live elsewhere, primarily in Southern Nevada, and have a 2nd home in Duck Creek for weekend and vacation getaways. This holiday weekend draws a huge crowd, many drive up from Las Vegas, NV to enjoy the cooler temperatures in the middle of summer.

Who does what here? Honestly, it’s really a good collaboration. We both decide where to go and plan the trip together. Once at our destination, Jeri takes most of the pictures and edits them for our website, though Joel has a much longer arm and is better at taking our selfies. Once the pictures are done then Jeri writes the posts and Joel edits them before they go live. Joel is also the IT guy when things go wrong (but what could possible go wrong when a computer is involved?)
