4-Wheeling from Big Bear Lake to Yucca Valley

We spent a few hours driving 24 miles (38.6 km) across the 2N02 trail from Big Bear Lake through Holcomb Valley and into Yucca Valley.

Norm, the Gnome, joined us today. Here we are in the truck at the start of the day.

Kerri drove her newly lifted Jeep the whole way. It was her first time driving an entire trail! Norm jumped in during a quick stop for this photo op.

The Joshua trees were so much bigger out here than we’ve seen in the past. Typically, the Joshua trees we see are about 6-10 feet tall (1.5-3 meters). The trees we saw today were huge!!

In 1946 Actor Dick Curtis started up Pioneertown, a re-creation of an 1880 western town. Hundreds of Westerns and early television shows were filmed in Pioneertown, including The Cisco Kid and Edgar Buchanan‘s Judge Roy Bean.

Who does what here? Honestly, it’s really a good collaboration. We both decide where to go and plan the trip together. Once at our destination, Jeri takes most of the pictures and edits them for our website, though Joel has a much longer arm and is better at taking our selfies. Once the pictures are done then Jeri writes the posts and Joel edits them before they go live. Joel is also the IT guy when things go wrong (but what could possible go wrong when a computer is involved?)
